Why we built LifeAxis

You're not disorganised. You've just got your finances in five different places. LifeAxis started because that problem turned out to be much harder than it looked.

Here is the thing about modern personal finance tools: there are a lot of them, and none of them talk to each other.

Your bank account is in one app. Your pension is in a portal you log into twice a year. Your mortgage is on a lender website you bookmarked years ago. Your car insurance renews from an email. Your ISA is somewhere else entirely. You've probably got a spreadsheet that tries to hold it all together, and a folder in your email labelled "important" that is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

You are not disorganised. You have done the work. There are just too many places to do it.

The problem with connected apps

The standard answer to this problem is to connect everything to one dashboard. Open banking, account aggregation, sync everything. And that's useful, up to a point.

The issue is that your financial life isn't just transactions. Your car insurance renewal is connected to your vehicle, which is connected to its MOT, which is connected to the advisories from last year, which you should probably sort before you renew. Your mortgage deal is connected to your property's current value, which affects your LTV, which affects whether it's worth remortgaging. Your ISA contributions are connected to your savings goal, which is connected to the account you're saving into.

Connecting accounts only tells you what's happened. It doesn't tell you what it means or what to do next.

What we're building instead

LifeAxis is built around entities, not transactions. A vehicle isn't just a recurring insurance payment. It's a complete record: DVLA data, MOT history, service records, linked insurance, finance agreement, cost analysis. A property isn't just a mortgage direct debit. It's equity tracking, valuation history, linked bills, maintenance records, documents.

When something needs your attention - your car insurance renews in 14 days, your mortgage deal ends in three months, your MOT is due - LifeAxis surfaces it. You don't need to go looking. It finds you.

And because everything is connected - your vehicles, properties, accounts, goals, habits, family members - the intelligence compounds. The system knows that the £620 you paid for car insurance last year is now up for renewal. It knows your MOT advisory about the front tyres. It knows whether you've budgeted for it this month.

Why this turned out to be harder than it looked

We started building LifeAxis assuming the hard part was the integrations. Get the DVLA data. Connect the bank accounts. Pull the property valuations.

The hard part turned out to be the data model. Building something that feels simple to use but is genuinely intelligent underneath requires getting the entity relationships right first. A vehicle has to know about its insurance. An insurance policy has to know about its vehicle, its linked account, its renewal date, its claim history. Get that wrong and you have a database, not a platform.

We've been getting that right. The vehicle entity is the most complete thing we've built and it's the demo centrepiece for good reason. Properties are next. Then the full account and investment picture.

Where we are

LifeAxis is in beta, free to use, and we're building it in the open with a small group of early members who are shaping what it becomes. That matters to us. The people in the beta aren't just users. They're the reason the product is getting better every week.

If you want to be part of that, we'd love to have you. Beta is free. We're also getting close to launching a Founder Member licence - a one-time lifetime deal for the people who believed in this early. If that sounds like you, now is the time to get in.
