Google Drive Upload

Upload files from your device and have LifeAxis file them automatically in the right folder in your Google Drive.

When you upload a document in LifeAxis, it goes straight into your Google Drive in the correct folder — no manual filing required. The file is stored in Drive and LifeAxis keeps a reference to it so you can open it from within the app at any time.

Where files are stored in Drive

LifeAxis organises your documents into a folder hierarchy inside a top-level LifeAxis folder in your Drive:

What you uploadDrive path
Document linked to a vehicleLifeAxis/🚗 Vehicles/[Vehicle name]/
Document linked to a propertyLifeAxis/🏠 Properties/[Property name]/
Document linked to an insurance policyLifeAxis/🛡️ Insurance/[Policy name]/
Document linked to a personLifeAxis/👤 People/[Person name]/
Document linked to a projectLifeAxis/📋 Projects/[Project name]/
Document in a custom groupLifeAxis/📄 General/[Group name]/
Unlinked documentLifeAxis/📄 General/

LifeAxis creates any missing folders automatically when you upload. You do not need to set up the folder structure yourself.

How to upload

  1. 1Open the entity the document belongs to (a vehicle, property, insurance policy, etc.) and go to its Documents tab, or open the Document Library and click the + button on a group card
  2. 2Drag and drop a file into the upload area, or click to browse your device
  3. 3Add a description and tags if you want to make it easier to find later
  4. 4Click Upload — LifeAxis uploads the file to Drive and stores a link to it

You can upload multiple files at once by selecting more than one in the file picker.

Opening and downloading files

Files are stored in Google Drive. From within LifeAxis you can:

  • Open — opens the file in Google Drive in a new tab. Works for all file types that Drive can display (PDFs, images, Google Docs, Word, etc.)
  • Preview — for supported file types, previews the file inline without leaving LifeAxis
  • Download — downloads the file to your device

If Google Drive is not connected

Uploading still works without a Drive connection. Files are stored locally within LifeAxis instead. You can connect your Google Drive later from account settings — existing documents will remain accessible but will not be retroactively moved into Drive.

Supported file types

All file types are accepted. Common formats include PDF, JPEG, PNG, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), and text files. There is no enforced file size limit, though very large files will take longer to upload depending on your connection speed.
