When you no longer actively use a vehicle but want to keep its records, archiving is the right choice. It removes the vehicle from your active list and net worth without deleting anything.
What archiving does
- Removes the vehicle from your active vehicles list
- Excludes it from cost analysis totals
- Removes it from your net worth calculation
What is kept
Everything is retained:
- Service history and maintenance records
- Documents
- Mileage entries and MOT history
- Finance agreements
- All notes
Restoring an archived vehicle
Archived vehicles are available in the archived vehicles list. You can restore a vehicle at any time, and it will return to your active list with all its data intact.
When to archive vs dispose
- Archive if you are temporarily not using the vehicle (in storage, off the road) or if you want to keep its history for reference
- Dispose if you have sold, part-exchanged, or written off the vehicle and want to close out its financial record properly
